Consumer Loan Underwriter

As a remote Consumer Loan Underwriter, you will utilize your skills and knowledge to make sound lending decisions for our members. Apply today to join the A+FCU Consumer Lending Team!

  • Analyze credit applications by researching past history, stability factors, income, etc. and render decisions using A+ Federal Credit Union Underwriting Guidelines
  • Act as a lending resource for dealers, other loan officers, branch staff and members to advise on loan policy and procedure to clarify loan decisions
  • Assist other loan officers with daily tasks to ensure that all applications have been handles and all member requests have been addressed
  • Maintain acceptable delinquency and loss ratios as stipulated in departmental goals
  • Interpret procedural guidelines to negotiate terms of credit decisions with dealers when necessary
  • Maintain acceptable application decision volume
  • Maintain acceptable approval, counter and decline ratios to grow the lending portfolio for increased profitability
  • Interpret procedural guidelines to negotiate terms of credit decisions with dealers and branch staff
  • Advice members of denials and their options
  • Research and resolve issues related to individual member loans, accounts, or dealer transactions
  • Attend and participate in training seminars to remain up-to-date on current compliance issues, lending regulations, and internal policies
  • Support and promote the cross-selling of A+ products

  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, lending regulations, and internal policies and procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of all Credit Union services to support cross-selling initiatives to all members

  • Two year degree in business related field, or equivalent work experience required (Four year degree preferred)
  • Three years of financial institution experience with two years consumer loan experience required
  • One year of sales experience required
  • Working knowledge of regulations affecting consumer lending
  • Working knowledge of loan operating systems preferred
  • Must live in Central Texas surrounding area (Austin, TX preferred)
  • Ability to work 10:00 am to 7:00 pm CST or 11:00 am to 8:00 pm CST, Monday through Saturday on a rotating schedule (1 day off during the week to compensate for working Saturdays)

Physical Functions
