Job Description Summary

Technical Writing - InternJob SummaryMAXIMUS, Inc., provider of innovative health and human services across the United States and around the world, seeks a technical writing intern. This position reports to the manager of IT Knowledge Management. The Technical Writing Intern works with the MAXIMUS IT Knowledge Management team to create and revise technical documentation in support of MAXIMUS IT activities and goals. The Intern experiences a real-world professional environment, including project planning, collaboration with subject matter experts, and use of online tools.Internship location332 Minnesota Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55101. This position is expected to work on site most of the time, although some remote work may be approved by management.Job Duties and Responsibilities:? Obtain necessary information for document content by conducting independent research and by meeting with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other stakeholders.? Gather, analyze, and compose technical information for a variety of documents including policies, processes, procedures, knowledgebase articles, and training presentations.? Help create documentation schedules, including review and sign-off dates, and track work to meet dates.? Format, edit, and perform quality assurance on your own work and the work of others.? Receive text from technical staff and rewrite documentation in a clear and concise style.? Apply editorial and visual standards for documents.? Collaborate with project managers and project leads.? Maintain and organize intranet websites.? Create training materials.? Complete all other duties as assigned.Education and Requirements:? Currently enrolled in a full-time degree program, pursuing a bachelor's degree in a communications-related field (such as technical communication or English)? Excellent English language technical writing and editing skills, familiar with Chicago Manual of Style or similar style manuals? Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Office 365 applications? Effective interpersonal and communication skillsPreferred? Experience writing and producing a variety of document formats, including policy, process, procedure, knowledge articles, training, business communications? Experience administering websites or blogs (such as SharePoint, WordPress, Squarespace)? Experience producing presentations using Microsoft PowerPoint, video? Experience working in an IT operations organization? Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Minimum Requirements:- High School diploma with 0- 2 years of experience.- May have additional training or education in area of specialization.- Works on assignments that are routine in nature, with responsibilities easily learned on the job.- Acquires job skills and learns applicable policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.- Able to read, understand & perform assignments within prescribed guidelines.- Communicates routine information in a clear and accurate way with internal & external contacts.
