The right candidate has an entrepreneurial mindset, is driven to win and gets a thrill out of personally spending $100,000+ per day on performance marketing without blinking, while knowing every nook and cranny of the Google Ads platform.

Hello, my name is Mike Weaver, Head of Customer Acquisition at Metabolic Living, and I need your help. We have a robust customer LTV that allows us to acquire at a loss and scale fast. We’re a profitable, self-funded $50MM company with 100+ team members with a goal of building a billion-dollar brand by 2023. To do that requires we have a state-of-the-art digital marketing team in-house. Despite the current environment, we’re growing rapidly, thanks to being in the health and wellness space.

To that end, we’re looking for a needle-in-a-haystack who has a fully integrated mindset and hands-on skillset, including doing research and analysis, to developing acquisition strategy, to planning the media buys, to actually setting up, managing and optimizing the campaigns, to working with our creative team to develop high-converting video, graphic and text creative and our funnel teams to develop high converting funnels to working with our data analysis team to dig deep to gain true insights.

You know you’re right for this opportunity if you get so intensely focused on your buys and campaigns that you can “feel” them at a deep level. Yes, data is important, but there’s a whole different intuitive level that comes from deep, intense focus that gives you the gut feel for the underlying dynamics. You will own the Google Ads channel P&L and essentially act as the CEO of that channel. We’ve been using agencies for years, but now are in-sourcing as we scale so we can be more efficient and effective. We’ve already in-sourced our Facebook buys and Google is next. For each of these channels, we’re hiring only top-level talent who has been-there-and-done that and who can hit the ground running, building out and optimizing campaigns from A-Z while building out their teams.

You’ll work on an elite digital marketing team with other channel CEOs for each major media platform/channel, including Facebook, Google, Programmatic, Native, expanding into radio and TV next year. And you’ll get to recruit, train and optimize a state-of-the-art team to drive results as we scale towards our ambitious goal of being a billion-dollar brand by 2023.

What Are the Major Objectives?
  • In-Source Google Ads – In-source 100% of all Google Ads buying within 90 days of starting, establishing a plan of action and methodically working your way through it to deliver
  • Document Best Practices – Develop detailed SOPs of best practices so you can cross-train other channel managers as well as train the team you recruit
  • Develop Infrastructure – Build out any remaining infrastructure we don’t already have, whether it’s reporting, tracking or workflows with other teams that are missing
  • Deliver Results – Collaborate with leadership to develop KPIs and deliver against those, collaborating with our creative, funnel and engineering teams to get what you need
  • Build Robust Team – Recruit your own A-team over time as you see fit to ensure our goals and objectives are hit as we scale from one growth stage to the next
What Are the On-going Responsibilities?
  • Develop Strategy – Develop and execute a Google Ads specific strategy to scale each sub-channel (YouTube, GDN & Search) while exceeding our KPIs for profitability and scale
  • In Depth Analysis – Dive Deep into all digital analytics, whether complex attribution KPIs or more standard ones including ROAS, LTV, CPA, contribution margin and more, etc.
  • Project Management – Act as the single point of accountability for all major strategic projects, conducting daily huddles, building requirements and managing project plans
  • Manage Campaigns – Perform hands on, day-to-day management of all campaigns (YouTube, GDN & search), building, optimizing, tearing down and rebuilding as necessary
  • Own the Results - Stay on top of the KPIs on a daily basis to detect changes in trend and course-correct immediately, gaining trust with senior leadership that you’re “on it”
  • Go to Market – Collaborate with strategic leadership to devise plans to drive new product marketing initiatives should you spot exciting new opportunities we should capitalize on
What Key Skills and Experience are Needed?
  • 5+ Years D2C Media Buying – Hands-on day-to-day management of at least $500k / month paid media with ALL Google Ads channels (YouTube, GDN & Search) for direct-to-consumer spend
  • Veteran Team Leader – Have built 1 or more customer acquisition / media buying teams, know precisely how it’s done and it would come easy doing it again
  • Unquenchable Curiosity – It’s difficult for you to stop asking why, why, why… or what if, what if, what if… you love to understand all of the details and don’t stop until you figure it out
  • Driven to Excellence – You naturally have a powerful inner drive towards excellence, which makes you very uncomfortable being around others who don’t have that same drive
