Amazon's Advertising Design Scaled Services (DSS) team is seeking a talented, customer-obsessed Copywriter to research, conceptualize and edit brand-focused copy on various advertising creative placements on Amazon. A key function of the role will focus on raising the copy bar for Amazon Stores, which create an elevated shopping experience around an individual brand’s products and story to better connect with customers.

As a DSS Copywriter, you will understand and harness the power of language for brands to communicate effectively to their customers. You will partner with designers to support, and sometimes inform, their design choices and create a cohesive brand experience that delights customers and personifies the brand’s image. You will both write new copy and edit copy provided by clients.

The Copywriter should have deep knowledge and practical experience in copywriting, providing leadership from concept to final asset creation. As well, the Copywriter should be comfortable writing for high-emotion brands, low-consideration “impulse” products and everything in between. You should be comfortable understanding the right way to position a brand and/or product based on the brand’s message off Amazon, the category they fall under and the brand’s tone. You should possess excellent communication, collaboration and organizational skills.

Previous copywriting experience is required. A portfolio of copy you have written is preferred.

  • Applying a revised, clear, differentiated (when required) voice and tone for brands on their stores and advertisements.
  • Displaying customer obsession through advertising and branding language by considering the customer journey and experience with Amazon advertisements and stores.
  • Innovating and raising the copy bar
  • Leading in partnership with design stakeholders from briefing and initial concept, completing copy variations and proposals on time that also consistently and continually raise the standard of written tone.
  • Proactively managing time and deadlines
  • Working with client-facing Stakeholders (Creative and Campaign Managers, Marketing Specialists) to understand an Advertiser’s needs, then developing concepts and copy variations within the necessary voice and tone.
  • Sharing processes and driving adoption of mechanisms that elevate how we approach copy and raise the broader team’s awareness of requirements to make great use of language.
  • Guiding the global standards and practice of others involved in writing and language to improve and scale the work across the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Copywriter, Content Strategist, Art Director (copy-focused,) Linguist, or similar role.
  • Experience leading copy standards and examples for a high volume of conceptual and production work
  • Passion for creating scalable processes that elevate the strategic impact of language and writing
  • Excellent project management, communication and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scaling creative copywriting in a global organization
  • Passion for copywriting, language, user experience, creative direction, and editorial design
  • Experience managing marketing and advertising design projects
  • Experience in copywriting in the advertising industry
  • Experience in scriptwriting for video
  • Masters Degree in Creative Writing, Advertising (Writing), Linguistics, Journalism, Communications, Library Science, Scriptwriting, English Literature, or related field, preferred.
