Marketing Director (Remote)

SmartBug's Marketing Director will report to the VP of Sales and Marketing and will be responsible for building a high-growth lead generation funnel including customer evangelism across all our lines of business. You will collaborate and work cross-functionally with our PR, Creative, and Development teams while also leading an internal marketing team and leveraging our small army of internal consultant content creators to deliver high-growth campaigns that themselves serve as case studies of our work.

The Day-to-Day:
  • Lead the development, execution, and optimization of all lead generation, nurturing and paid customer acquisition campaigns
  • Lead a team of marketers to drive key business metrics including leads, MQLs, SQLs and Opportunities
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to maintain strong marketing to sales alignment
  • Build and execute demand generation programs for new market entry such as specific verticals or technology ecosystems
  • Build and execute customer evangelism, advocacy and expansion campaigns to support flywheel initiatives
  • Scope demand program requirements, budget, resource needs and delivery timeframes based on data
  • Iterate on and drive creation of key reporting and analytics insights into top level marketing dashboards across key performance indicators mapped to the demand funnel
  • Optimize and standardize demand creation approaches across the organization
  • Create a model to track and report on program success and drive continuous improvement through testing and data analysis
  • Forecast lead volume and present to senior management
  • Work collaboratively with sales to ensure alignment and successful close rates of our ideal customers.
  • Conceive and execute launch and lead generation plans for new products and services.
  • Build and maintain a robust marketing and editorial calendar that resonates with our target buyer personas.
  • Stay informed about inbound marketing industry developments, and be able to utilize these developments on your campaigns.
  • Practice your craft by contributing to SmartBug Media's blog and owning our social media presence.

Experience and Education Requirements:
  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship is required
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum 5 years experience developing and executing strategic B2B demand gen and ABM programs
  • Hands-on experience working with demand generation tools, including marketing automation and lead scoring software, ABM and other demand ops tools; HubSpot and/or Marketo experience required
  • Budget allocation and reporting experience
  • Strong ability to build cross-functional relationships and virtual teams
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • An innate hunger and the self-discipline to grow, as well as a willingness to help others succeed.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
  • Experience working remotely preferred
  • Experience managing paid media channels and budgets, including Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram Ads, and Twitter Ads
  • Rich understanding of SEO best practices with the ability to extract and analyze data from Google Analytics, HubSpot, SEMrush, and other related tools
  • Supervisory experience, either with full-time employees, part-time employees, or freelancers/contractors
