Development Assistant


Found in Translation was founded in 2011 in order to create opportunity at the intersection of two social problems: health access disparities and economic inequality across race, gender, and ethnicity. Through education and supportive services, we connect top talent in low-income communities with well-paying jobs in one of the fastest-growing fields in the US. Our Medical Interpreter Certificate training and job placement program supports our two-fold mission:

  • To give low-income bilingual women an opportunity to achieve economic security through the use of their language skills
  • To unleash bilingual talent into the workforce to fight racial, ethnic, and linguistic disparities in health care

Summary

The Development Assistant will provide administrative and logistical support to Found in Translation’s individual giving (grassroots and major), grant funding, events and corporate sponsorship revenue streams. This is a part time hourly position (​10 hours a week) reporting to the Information and Communications Manager. The position is currently remote, and will eventually require part time in-person presence in a small, shared, office in Dorchester. 

Roles and Responsibilities

General (50%)

  • Produce timely acknowledgements for philanthropic contributions received 
  • Accurately input contributions in Google Sheets database, including appropriately recording the donor information, source of the gift, and relevant gift details
  • Maintain a high level of data quality, including identifying potential duplicate records and updating contact information on an ongoing basis
  • Correspond with funders and potential funders while representing the organization in a professional manner
  • Support external communications through formatting and design in Google suite, Canva, and Constant Contact as needed
  • When in person work resumes, maintain supplies of office materials like stationery and postage stamps, photocopy and record contribution check data

Grant funding (25%)

  • Provide occasional administrative and scheduling support to grants team
  • Liaise with Grant Writer and Information and Communications Manager to compile application materials for grant submissions as needed 

Corporate Sponsorship and Events (10%)

  • Provide administrative support around sponsor recognition efforts
  • Assist with fundraising and volunteer appreciation events by creating online and print materials, ordering supplies and providing day of support 

Individual gifts (15%)

  • Provide administrative and scheduling support to Executive Director on major gift prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship

Qualifications and Experience

  • Genuine resonance with and commitment to our mission
  • Previous successful administrative experience preferred
  • Prior fundraising experience in a job, internship, or volunteer role a plus
  • Ability to maintain high level of donor confidentiality
  • Problem solving skills and ability to present possible solutions to supervisor
  • Familiarity with Google Docs/Google Apps and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
