Social Media Manager

Job Description

The Buttonwood Tree is seeking a social media manager to join our team. You will be working and interacting directly with other Journalists/Editors and the CEO/ Editor in Chief. We are looking for someone who has a strong interest in utilizing social media to rapidly grow a company. This individual should be ready to join a new digital newspaper, and are ready to utilize analytics to constantly increase the efficiency at which they retain followers. Ideally you have social media managing experience.

Compensation is purely equity (.25 - 1% stocks) please disregard hourly wage. The role is part time, remote and concurrent roles are acceptable.

About: The Buttonwood Tree is a new digital business newspaper covering high finance. The Buttonwood Tree got its name from the Buttonwood Agreement of 1792. Under a buttonwood tree stockbrokers aimed to organize the trading of securities in New York. It was the creation of the New York Stock Exchange and it is the birthplace of Wall Street as we know it today.


  • Engage daily with audience via comments, DMs, and texts, coordinating with customer service to ensure a consistent, positive experience for all
  • Track & report all social media analytics
  • Develop & pitch innovative ways to engage audience on all platforms (content, delivery, contests, etc.)
  • Manage & curate monthly/weekly content calendar for FB, Twitter and LinkedIn
  • Monitor best practices for measuring effectiveness of social media marketing by campaign
  • Schedule content via FB Creator & community platform as necessary & post hashtags for all posts
  • Stay up to date on all social media trends, tools, applications, channels and strategy.
  • Coordinate with journalists, editors, and others to implement content
  • Collect & organize posts, data, info and images (as needed; daily)
  • Develop system & process for collecting reviews


  • Bachelors Degree
  • 1+ years of People Management Experience
  • 2+ years of Social Media Marketing Experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Ability to work on a team
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to report and interpret


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $15.00 per hour
