 Overall Responsibilities:



  • Build key technical relationships at top Aerospace and Defense accounts demonstrating great technical credibility increasing customer technical confidence in NI
  • Understanding and assist in creation of customer technical requirements.
  • Provide recommendations on software architectures, hardware while helping understand the next steps to ensure success
  • Collaborating with the NI Account Manager(s) as part of an account team to lead development and execution of the account technical strategy providing insight to the overall account strategy and pipeline
  • Coordinate with and inform internal technical stakeholders to execute on account technical initiatives and provide feedback to increase account success
  • Leverage industry, application area, and account knowledge to uncover and influence customer future technical needs and challenges generating further technical demand for NI products, services, and support

"Position 1"

Aerospace/Defense Semiconductor Applications Engineer- Austin, TX



The Automated Test AE Team in the Americas Support organization has an immediate opening in Austin, Texas for an Applications Engineer focusing on Aerospace/Defense and Government (ADG) test applications. (Remote available, Austin, TX prefered)

 

As a Staff ATE Applications Engineer, you will work with senior AEs to enable Automated Production Test (APT) customer success. Within the first 6 months, you will build application knowledge and software engineering skills as you work with a cross-functional team on a customer project. Within a year, you will acquire NI product certifications and develop industry acumen that will enable you to continue building your career.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver application support to customers individually and through cross-functional team
  • Perform project-level scoping and estimation
  • Organize and execute a variety of complex tasks
  • Deliver application feedback 
  • Capture recurring pain points associated with target applications
  • Clarify feedback as needed by ADG Business Unit and R&D





 Preferred Experience



  • Experience working with aerospace, defense, and/or government customers
  • Professional experience with the following NI Products as a central part of your current or previous role (all not required but depth and breadth will strengthen your candidacy):
  • Software: TestStand, LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA, Linux, Linux RT
  • NI Hardware: FlexRIO, High Speed Serial, ATCA, Oscilloscopes, USRP, VST, DMMs, SMUs, Synchronization, cRIO
  • Application Areas: Software Defined Radar, Electronic Warfare, Beamforming, Test framework/architecture standardization, RF physical layer measurements
  • Text-based software programming experience (Examples: C/C++, C#/VB.NET, Python)
  • General electronics test engineering experience

  • Achievement of key sales objectives for assigned account(s)
  • Understand target customers' business drivers to generate technical demand
  • Develop strong customer relationships to become a technical trusted advisor

Position Overview

 

NI Field Applications & Systems Engineers spend most of their time:

This position is compensated by 80% base salary and 20% variable pay based on achievement of key sales objectives. 



Qualifications:



General Requirements     

 



  •  Bachelors in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math
  • 5 years of programming experience
  • 5 years of experience in test and measurement instrumentation
  • 5 years of experience with RF Measurements, RF Design or RF Test
  • 5 years of experience with Aerospace, Radar or Electronic Warfare applications
  • Willing and Able to Travel - Regional, West-Coast Travel, and travel to Austin, TX (25% estimated)
  • US Citizenship and ability to secure US Government security clearance required



Preferred Skills



  • Experience communicating directly with customers at a variety of levels
  • 5 years of NI LabVIEW and NI TestStand
  • 5 years of Text-Based Programming Experience
  • 5 years of experience with the NI PXI Platform
  • Certified Developer in LabVIEW and/or TestStand
  • 2 years in a customer-facing role
  • Experience with FPGA technology
  • Experience writing test cases

  • Achievement of key sales objectives for assigned account(s)
  • Understand target customers' business drivers to generate technical demand 
  • Establish a cadence and healthy rapport with the NI Account team driving account technical strategy
  • Develop strong customer relationships to become a technical trusted advisor
