Government & Community Relations Coordinator


JOB OVERVIEW

The Government & Community Relations Coordinator plays an integral role in coordinating day-to-day and larger strategic government and community relations activities for the Alliance, including responding to queries from the public, coordinating community meetings and activities, working with community-based organizations on larger initiatives of importance to the park and larger community, and providing support for the Alliance’s work with elected officials, including activities and events connected to city-funded projects. The position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications and is an integral part of the department’s functions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / KEY JOB OUTCOMES

Community Relations

  • Serve as liaison between Prospect Park Alliance and community members and park patrons
  • Review and respond to queries, and assist in resolving issues that come to the attention of Prospect Park Alliance from community members, park patrons, and elected officials
  • Develop proper protocols and procedures for responding to queries by the community and park patrons, and prepare recommendations and reports to senior leadership ▪ Coordinate the planning and logistics of community meetings, workshops, and other events. Coordinate scheduling, prepare agendas and speaking points, and handle other logistics as needed Government Relations
  • Monitor state and city agendas as well as standing and interim committee schedules and communicate relevant information to senior leadership ▪ Research and compile background data, information, talking points and proposals for meetings with elected officials and government agencies ▪ Conduct lobbying reporting and other activities on a bi-monthly and quarterly basis.

General Administrative Support

  • Provide general administrative assistance to the Vice President in supporting the day to day Government and Community Relations activities of the Alliance
  • Support the Vice President in the development of the department's annual budget and closely monitor budget projections and expenses throughout the year
  • Conduct research online and through other sources to support government and community relations activities
  • Assist in preparing plans and reports on the Alliance’s community and government relations activities

Performs other job-related duties and functions as assigned
