Title: Development Manager
Reporting to: President of NAPE Foundation.
Status: The Development Manager will be retained as an independent contractor.
About NAPE Foundation
NAPE Foundation is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. NAPE Foundation is governed by a Board of Trustees and advisers from the business community and academia in Ghana and the United States. NAPE Foundation has been awarding scholarships to Ghanaian students at high school and university levels since 2006. Currently, scholarships are awarded to students attending Palm Institute in Accra.
The Development Manager will work closely with the President of NAPE Foundation and the Board of Trustees in the U.S. in order to implement fundraising, including annual gifts, major gifts, corporate donations, private foundation support, individual and in-kind donations and resources. He/She will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with new and existing donors and supporters, developing a Major Gifts Program and researching and writing proposals for appropriate grants.
Responsibilities Fund development
o Lead the development of the Foundation’s annual giving program, major gifts program and targeted fundraising campaigns
o Steward relationships with donors
o Identify individual prospects for the organization's fundraising priorities
o Present proposals to potential donors
o Oversee research of funding sources and trends
o Coordinate with the President of NAPE Foundation on the design and distribution of marketing and communication materials for development efforts
o Engage and supervise volunteers or interns for special fund development projects
o Evaluate and report regularly on the progress of the development program
Manage fund development budget
o Develop an annual income and expenditure budget for fund development in collaboration with the NAPE Foundation CPA.
o Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditures related to fundraising and development activities
o Monitor expenses and analyze budget reports on fund development and recommend changes as necessary
o Bachelor's degree required, a certificate in Fundraising Management an asset
o Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset
Knowledge, skills and abilities
o A strong commitment to NAPE Foundation’s and Palm Institute’s mission of educating ethical leaders
o Knowledge of the higher education landscape in Ghana and the aspirations and needs of students attending institutions of higher learning in Ghana.
o Knowledge of fundraising management
o Knowledge of the management of volunteer resources
o A minimum of three years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization with demonstrated success in a development function
o Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral; and the ability to influence and engage with a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships
o Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a collaborative team player who will productively engage with others
o Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
